Rear Wheel Off Center

Rear Wheel Off Center
Something I learned
 \\;
My bike was in an accident a couple of years ago and I noticed to bikes rear tire was off center to the left by a good bit (1/2 inch or more) \\; I researched and found that this is really not uncommon. \\; I remembered the bike being off some before the accident so I didn't worry about it. \\;
 \\;
I did allign the bike as best I could by following the directions in the service manual. \\; Loosening the mounts in 3 locations turning over the engine and most of the things stated in the process.
 \\;
one of the things it said was something like if you have to turn the top mount more than 5 turns go see the dealer and yoou should adjust it so the bolt drops strait in.
 \\;
I noticed the engine has the swing arm connected to it and the rear mouont of course connects the engine to the frame. \\; After this realization I figured adjusting the top brace would move the rear wheel as I needed it. \\; It worked. \\; I loosened all the mounts and tightened the top mount and then pryed the engine over to meet the new location. \\; Now the rear wheel is centered in the fender as it should be.
 \\;
notes
the bike roled strait before and after this adjustment.
the rear tire developed a shoulder after 1-2 thousand miles. (adjustment should fix this)
sometimes you have to use your head and ignore the service manual.
 \\;
Hope this helps someone......
