Default Feelin' Screwed

Just brought the bike in for the 1K service...the technician finds a 3" screw in my rear tire.&nbsp\\; There goes $300 (tire, wheel weights, labor) I wasn't planning on spending.

Sorry to hear about that.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Dealers have to make a living too.&nbsp\\; Have you ever removed a rear wheel yourself?&nbsp\\; If you have, then you know how long it takes.&nbsp\\;For me, a tire replacement is almost 2 hrs. to include belt tension check, torque of rear axle to spec, and road test.
&nbsp\\;
I know they asked if&nbsp\\;you wanted it fixed they have to\\; you had the option of saying "no", going down the road&nbsp\\;and fixing it yourself.
&nbsp\\;
You "screwed" yourself.&nbsp\\; Sorry, just sayin'

First of all, did you actually see the screw? Secondly, they overpriced the repair. I just had a new slim w/w Dunlop installed on the rear of my '07 Electra Glide at Petersons HD in Miami. 45 minutes (including an excellent wash job) for $192 including balancing, new stem, and all taxes.
&nbsp\\;
Petersons is the only "real deal" dealer in SE Florida. The other 3 are all Rossmeyer dealers, and they are almost criminal in every aspect of their operations.

I picked up a screw on the front at 1200 miles or so.&nbsp\\; Rummaged through the tool box and stuck a plug in it.&nbsp\\; 10.5k on the clock now.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; I think the plug held.&nbsp\\;

Aloha,
My thoughts exactly!&nbsp\\; be glad it was discovered before it became a problem.
