I just installed a Memphis shade slim detachable on my 2006 Low rider and it was quite easy. As far as hieght goes, I have been told you should be able to see about 100 ft down the road over the shield (about 2 seconds). Although it is a personal preference for one and all but so far I like it this way, after playing with different heights this seems to have minimal helmet buffering from the air flow.

I have a Memphis Slims 17 inch on my bike and it is good to go. Much less fatigue on long rides and good protection. I like to set it up so I look right over the top. I have a Memphis Shades 17 inch gradient blue replacement plastic windshield for sale, if anyone wants it PM me. I bought it, installed it, did not like it, replaced it with a solar one.
