2006 H-D FXDWGI Dyna Wide Glide Road Test
Thanks a lot for posting this! I've actually been a subscriber to this mag for years now. Being a former metric owner, this magazine is probably one of the best as far as metric reviews and articles go. They also cover harleys, but on a limited basis, and usually, their reviews of harleys are less than admirable. Now that I own a harley, I see how warped their editors are. They're so bent on the idea that metrics can compete, that they almost go out of their way to **** on an HD. So this article didn't surprise me. It's almost impossible for anyone to deny the fact that HD has done some pretty impressive stuff over the last few years....and with the new Dyna line, the improvements are unparalleled in the motorcycle industry. So they are almost forced to speak highly of the new Dnya upgrades. At the same time, this writer, who has been with this mag for years, said about the bike exactly what I knew he would say...basically criticizing the handling, comfort, foot position, etc. Whatever dude...the bottom line is, a Wide glide isn't really made to go around corners like a sport bike...and if you want to go on a week long trip, it may not be the ideal ride. But for what it is, it's the best out there..hands down.
I'll give Mr. Friedman credit. At least he admits that this bike really isn't the ideal bike for a road test. It's just frustrating seeing how much this magazine goes out of it's way to pan Harleys. It's a shame, because they do have a lot of really good articles as well.
This article is actually pretty favorable, all things considered. But in the end, I knew exactly what this guy was gonna say. I just don't get it. If you want to go like lightning around corners, buy a friggin rocket.
Either way, I'm glad they did this write-up. It's about time they cover the coolest production motorcycle ever built

I agree, when i saw it was Friedman i knew he was going to pan the 21" front wheel, the apes, etc. He used to write for a sport bike mag years ago and i get the feeling he doesnt really want to review cruisers period. I just came across AMerican Rider for the first time, and it states the magazine is changing its focus to improving your Harley and people who ride as opposed to extreme customs.
Oh please!!!. I have an 05 FXDWGI and with my Corbin Solo seat it is very comfortable, and handles and brakes quite well.
Bottom line.............It's a Harley, a cool bike, if you want to be really comfortable get a GoldWing or sit in a comfy chair at home. My WG shakes & rumbles at stop lights, just the way I like it.

Well, being 6'1", I think the pegs/seat/bars are perfect.
