Default Thread Sealer or no?

The first time I change my fluids, I noticed teflon thread seal tape on the threads. I scraped it all off and I never used it after changing the fluids, the shop manual doesn't mention it. Motorweek today had a segment on Harleys and said thread seal tape should always be used along with new O-rings. (BTW, the O-rings for the 07 Dyna are all the same trans, primary, and motor so always have the on hand).

What's the group's opinion on Teflon thread seal and why no mention in the shop manual when the come from the factory with thread seal.

I use it on my primary plug, but not on any other.

Respects,

Default Pipe Dope

What the local dealers use is a teflon pipe dope material, not tape. It just provides an extra seal on the plugs.

I use it but its an old habit. My first Harleys were a 66 EG and a 74 Sporty. Both leaked from every orifice when I got them and I stopped most of em,

Dont know if the newer oines need it or not
