Default Best Headlamp Bulb

After seeing a post on the sylvania silverstar bulbs on here, I am curious. What is the best and brightest bulb I can throw in my stock lamp assembly, I have terrible night vision and want a nice crisp light with a good beam, I am going to get the ***** G skull visor to help with the halo effect.

I would love to know this as well... I'm almost tempted to take out metal piece in front of bulb to see if that helps any.. I hate not being able to see that well at night. That halo effect with my high beams is terrible.

As I stated in the other post about Silverstars, I have had a bad experience with their lifespan. The brighter light was nice, but they only last a bit less than a year, which is a PITA to keep replacing, and knowing that your headlight can burn out anytime. I've went through my 3rd set in 3 years.

OK,I paid 40$ for a PIAA,it lasted 3 months.I was pissed about this and replaced it with a Silverstar 5 months ago,20$ and it is as good or better than the Piaa.(better than stock),so I don't know how long it will last, just wait and see I guess.

Is your head light adjusted correctly ? I am 50 years old, do not wear glasses and about half my riding is at night, and i find the stock head light excellent ! I did have to make a slight adjustment to it when i first bought the bike [2008 superglide] But since i have really been satisfied with the stock headlight [bulb].Remember also that brighter bulbs may produce more heat which may then lead to bulbs burning out faster, things possibly melting, etc.

Agreed. My stock headlamp unit is plenty bright and throws a prefect "band" of light on the road. I'm not likely to mess with this set-up at all.

I've got UltraStars in my pickup, and they only last about 7-9 months or so. Bright bastards burn themselves out I guess, but that high beam is priceless. I will probably put a silverstar in my bike next spring.
