I am hopeing for some help in here!!! LOL . I have a Harely Dyna Glide Convertable, I rode it into to get some parts for the my truck and when i went to start it to come home it would not start. So i push started it and rode home. when you hit the starter you could here the startturning freely but it was not turning the motor over. I thought that the solenoid was junk and maybe the battery did not have have enough ampts to turn the motor over! I put the tester on the battery and sure enough the battery was shot I went and bought a new one did not make the bike turn over. so I bought a solenoid rebuild kit and rebuilt the solenoid I check the gear and splin that ataches to the starter they apear to be in good shape they are not stripped. But in my efforts the bike will still not start. when you hit the button the start will ingauge on the fly wheel but will not turn the motor over! DOES any One KNow what is wrong!!!!! I would be greatful if you would share it with me?

I will take a Pic and post it in here I see there is some really nice bikes in here.

I've got a '98 FXDS also and altho' I haven't had that problem I could suggest you've got a bad starter. Have you got a service manual? That would be the first place I'd look. Sorry I can't help out but seeing 1998 FXDS CON in the subject I just had to look.

 

Well I have to go with the starter as well......... cuz you say it will push start... cant be a froze motor.

check the starter clutch ,it will cause your problem

 

Starter clutch... not pushing the bendix gear out to engage the ring gear.
