Seat strap
If the '09 is like the '06 it attaches to the fender.
First step is to make sure you use the proper holes (my Sundowner had a couple options so I used the holes indicated in the instructions.
Attach strap to fender.
Slide back of seat through strap, and
Move seat on its side to the left side of bike (shifter side), and
Manuever seat back while turning seat to proper upright position.
Not too difficult a procedure.
The process is somewhat like a fat chick squirming into a girdle (or so I've been told).

Gunfighter has it about right Kind of a PITA but in WI, if you don't have a sissy bar and you carry a passenger you need the grab strap. I found that if I ride solo and use my tour bag as a backrest, the strap works to keep the bag from moving around so I will keep it and live with the inconvenience
