Gunfighter has it about right Kind of a PITA but in WI, if you don't have a sissy bar and you carry a passenger you need the grab strap. I found that if I ride solo and use my tour bag as a backrest, the strap works to keep the bag from moving around so I will keep it and live with the inconvenience
