Great little fix for what they do! you shouldn't see any exrtra fuel consumption.I didn't anyway.

Runs cooler? How are you measuring cylinder head temperature?

I have an oil temperature gauge and I went from 270 degrees F to 259 degrees F after the xied's. Had them on there 4 months now with no problems. Lost a few MPG though, but living in Vegas I will gladly trade that for a cooler engine!

thats a good decrease, oil temp goes down so dose cylinder head temp...

Surprised that oil temp is decreased like that. Seems oil temp is the result of mechanical action vs cylinder head temp resulting from combustion chamber temp. Wondering if anyone has measured the actual cylinder head temp with and without IED's.

I know this is simplified, but the combustion IS what heats up the oil (some of course is friction), if you cool the the cylinders with a cooler mix then everything is cooled

I wasnt gonna get scientific with the xied,But to satisfy my curiosity i flogged the hell out of the bike up the up mountain and back down, without the xied plugged in measuring the head temp with a gage i stole from the engineroom, that i used to use to measure a 1200psi steam pipe with,Then i plugged the xied in,Then spanked the bike back up the mountain and down, and then checked the head temp again. The head temp dropped roughly 60 degrees after plugging in the xied.i'm sure there are more accurate ways to check the temps,But it served my purpose. There is somebody on this site who did check the differences with an infrared camera and recorded the changes before and after,do a search.Im certain that if you run an engine in a lean condition,it will run hotter than it should.I remember that from auto shop in high school,If you want to run a little cooler enrich the fuel ratio and combustion chamber temps will come down,And then oil temps will come down as well

I found that cruizer85257,Did the field test and it was a better approach than i used. But as long as i saw lower oil temps, lower head temps, runs smoother,no surging i dont need to go any further than i did

How did you hook up your oil temp gauge? And what gauge did you use?

On the Xied's, I had them last year. I measured head temp pre & post over a variety of days and conditions and rides. I found NO difference in temperature.

I have no idea why, I just know they didn't work for me.
