I have a set of Ghost Brackets and they do a fine job.

Well ghost/edge won't work without some substantial mods, like cutting off the end on the rear of the bracket, powdercoating the cut end. Not that I'm against mods, but it voids any warranty. The kid (finally called me back after I sent another email saying thanks anyway) said the brackets were only 1/16th" thick so the distance left after cutting the end off may compromise the integrity of the bracket, being so close to the slot for the mounting bolt to go thru. My bags cut down at about a 45* angle so there's only about 12" of flat surface to hide the bracket.

Sounds like they are not really made for all HD OEM bags.

Gonna check with Easybrackets but I suspect they are much the same. Barebacks may be my only alternative but it chokes me to pay the same price for them when all you get is a pkg of (basically) nuts and bolts.

Pros - very subtly, bags don't come away from bike too far, look great, price was cheaper (at the time .. dunno about now)

Cons - Not lockable (although 99% of people would not even know they are detachable), I think they only work with Harley OEM bags (but imagine they should work with any that are designed to mount to the HD)
Makes two of us with the same, BareBacks. Personally, they work perfect with my HD bags. Same Pros and Cons as above really.

trapper, or stanger. Do your bags have a flat backside or are they like mine with the area around the mounting hole sticking out , like a tit. So between the tit and the spacer required the bag itself mounts 1 1/4-1 1/2" out from the strut. Looks like my only option of the bare backs, but the bolt assy that goes through the bag has to be long enough to go through the tit and the thickness of the back of the bag. Not so sure those bare backs will work, uinless of course the bolt is just a regular bolt which goes through the spring loaded piece.
I'm still havin a hard time paying the same price for a bunch of nuts and bolts as those nice easy brackets cost. I just put some on my wifes V Star and they are really nice, heavy powdercoated brackets, nice chromes pieces.......

got the easy brackets on my '06 WG. They work great and i didn't have to relocate the turn signals.

That's because the changed that a little and no longer utilize the strut bolt for the turn signal mount. They're separate now. Much better in my book.

Yes my bags (exact same as the pic posted on the thread under yours) has a little tit on the back. When mounted, the distance between that tit and the detachable sissybar mount is 1" (I just went out and measured).

The end that goes into the bag is VERY long. You will have more than enough bolt and in fact will probably want to cut it.
