Default Finished the pulley swap. Interesting results.

'09 Street Bob. Just swapped out the stock 32 tooth pulley on the transmission output shaft for a 30 tooth one. I was told the 6th gear indicator light would no longer work, but it does. I found the test ride after the pulley swap very interesting. Very... interesting... INDEED. MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

The sixth speed light only goes away if you do the engine pulley, not the trans pully. Mine works also.

Enjoy the "new" ride... Imagine what it is like with the motor slightly built.

I already am. I'm thinking "power wheelies."
I'm thinking I've been working enough on the bike for now. Maybe a 103" kit and the 255 cams would be interesting to look into for winter mods.

I have the tools now, I don't have no excuse for not doing this yet. I have heard the difference is bigger than putting on pipes, is that true?

Where'd you get it? Part number? How much of a difference is there?

The math says there's close to a 7% difference. Every time I mod a bike I always ANTICIPATE that it will make a difference so my opinion is not as objective as I'd like it to be. And this pulley swap took a LOT more work than (in my opinion) it should have. So I was really hoping for a big difference. I have only ridden the bike about 5 miles since the swap. Down to the end of the street I live on (about a mile), then took a right and rode about a mile and a half, then turned around and came home. I hit over 100 mph in both directions and was very impressed with the *PULL* I felt. Wow. On the way back I let it wind up (quickly) to RIGHT AT the point where the rev limiter kicks in. I don't have a tach but have hit the rev limiter way more than I want to admit so I could just FEEL/HEAR it was about it hit... speedometer said right at 40 mph when I slammed it into second gear. It wound out to 60 mph in 2nd gear before it was *RIGHT THERE* about to hit the rev limiter again. Yes, definitely a bigger seat-of-the-pants difference than the exhaust. The exhaust was a more uh.... "emotional" change, though. You can HEAR that and just imagine you're going faster. The swap was worth the $. The only thing that was STUPID about it to me was having to pay $96 to get the tool I needed (from George's Garage... excellent product, FAST shipping, I have NO affiliation with them) sent to me so that I could remove the damn stock pulley. And the $96 was a deal compared to what HD wanted for the tool. Oh, and I did without the "pulley locking tool" that they said I needed.

I pulled the plug, the Trick Shift is draining. I'm soaking my new clutch plates and will be doing this in the morning.
