Using di-electric grease is a good idea. I use it on the spark plug caps too.
Great advice. Thanks for the reply.

Default Diagnostics trouble

I have an 06 dyna low rider setting P0261, P0263, & P1003 codes. From everything I've found online it sounded like I needed to replace the system relay, so I did & it didn't help. My ground cable s & other connections seem to be tight & I haven't found any corrosion anywhere. Anyone have & thoughts on this?

For what it's worth, when I wired helms stations for boat company and the relays we used were of Bosch origin. Anyway there were black 12v relays and gray ones . The gray ones had a diode in the relay to the internal switch, that may be the case with HD's start and system relays.

That relay is pretty reliable. More then likely, battery or its its connection. Is your fuse box clean and free from corrosion?

Same problem for me multiple times, system relay each time. But the first time I used electrical contact cleaner then put dielectric grease on the relay contacts. When you turn the ignition switch you should hear the fuel pump whine.

Default Was that the underlying issue? Dealing with a basket case that three other hands touched.

The cover got beat up a little takin' it apart, but when I was done inside, just put a little tape. If it is bad, it can be intermittent. The contacts on mine were corroded pretty bad. Sometimes they would make contact, sometimes not. The grey starter relay has one more terminal on it but will plug right up where the black one is. I did this on mine in the begining stages of diagnosing my problem and all was well. DTC codes P1001, P1002, P1003, P1004. Any of them codes leads you to the System Relay.
