Default Does Dynas really vibrate more than Softails?

Hi!
My first post in this forum. I try to decide between a Fat Boy or a Bob but this vibrating issues came up in the Softail forum https://www.hdforums.com/m_552516/tm.htm is that really true?
Back in 1988-92 I had a FXR Super Glide and I don´t recall that it had any annoying vibrations at all, and I was riding that bike for over 30K miles. From what I understand the Dyna frame should vibrate less than the older FXR frame..? Or is it that the Softail guys only have soft tails[&:]

thanks
Patrik

I really don't know what they hell they're talking about. The "B" motor of the Softails is dead smooth at idle but vibrates badly when the RPM's rise. I don't particularly like it. The "A" motor of the Dyna and Touring bikes shake at idle but are butter smooth throughout the RPM range. I guess it's all just a matter of what you're used to. I'd have been sorely disappointed if the counterbalanced "B" motor came with the Dyna line. I've spent some time on Softails and really think Dynas ride a little better too.

dude, I've ridden both. I own a softy, and just a few days ago I was considering tradin my softy for a low rider. but every time I walk out in the garage I fall in love with my night train again.
last guy hit it on the head. my 88B vibrates like crazy if I ever try and cruise at 85 or so. any less than that and I'm fine. my suggestion since you've already had a dyna would be to go test ride a softail and see for yourself. I rode my dads 06 super glide this year and I was not that impressed. but mostly that had to do with the mid controls and the speedo on the bars.
anyways, good luck with your choice!

I've ridden all the Softails , and have owned 2 dyna's I don't think there is a significant difference overall, once you are moving

I have done a search as Sooee suggested and from what I have read, and what you guys have posted in this thread, it seems like its only a small minority who have problems with the "vibrations". I think a Dyna will be my choice because of its sportier qualitys (no floorboards that will tear up the asphalt in the curves).

Both are nice bikes. One thing with the Fat Boy is the solid rims tend to catch the cross wind so you have to really hold on in gusty winds.
Vibration wise it's just as the previous posts said.

I like my Superglide, just my $0.02.

I have a lowrider(wife's) and a Heritage and the Dyna vibrates me alot more at idle and at speed.
My wife doesnt like to ride my Heritage she likes the Dyna better and she doesnt really notice the vibration at all. So I think regardless of which bike you go for you will get used to and enjoy the one you choose.

One more vote for the DYNA. There is another reason the "A" motor is better than the "B", the "A" motor redlines at 1000 higher rpm. This may or not matter to many of us but what it means is the counterbalance crap that is stuffed into the motor is weaker than the rest of the motor. More parts to break and more parts to wear out.

there is a fine line between "old school and old fool"
