Question Shock size??

What is the stock shock size on a Street Bob?
If it's 12", then how does a 10.5" lowering shock from Burly get your bike down 2"?
This web site has several posts talking about dropping their bikes 2". Someone please show me the link to Burly's site where it describes the actual seat height differs by 2". This magical 1/2" has me confused. Thanks!

The stock shock is 12". I can't explain what happened to that 1/2", but I'm sure someone who does know will follow this up.

I read that if I put a 1" shorter shock on my bike, then the height will drop by 1.5". Maybe these numbers are while under load?

The difference is a factor of the angle of the shock. If it was straight up and down you would have a direct measurement, either up or down. Under load creates too many variables.

the location of the shock mount to the axle. lower the shock distance and the axle moves farther than the distance between the shock eyelets.

The wheel is farther out on the swing arm than the shock. That makes it move farther than one inch. For every inch removed at the shock it translates into an 1.5" at the wheel. My wife's a math professor. She tried to explain the actual calculation but I got drunk before she finished.

Well Allright! That makes alot more sense. I was thinkig eye to eye versus slope variable.
Great deal!
