The wheel is farther out on the swing arm than the shock. That makes it move farther than one inch. For every inch removed at the shock it translates into an 1.5" at the wheel. My wife's a math professor. She tried to explain the actual calculation but I got drunk before she finished.
I can't say without the actual dimensions for calculations, but I'd venture to say that you would gain more than a 0.6" drop if you switched, perhaps close to an inch, but seriously doubt you could get 1.8".
So if I switch my 12.6" OEM shocks for 12.0" shocks, bike will drop 1.8"?
you would get .9" of drop. Maybe a tad less cause the lower shock will have a bit less preload due to the shorter travel. So let's say .8" of drop would be more accurate.
