Default Shock Size

I've been reading that everyone is running the progressive 440's or 412's, I think i'm gonna go with the 440's but now the next question do I go with the 12" or stock 13" and put a lowering kit on . I'm 6'4" but like the look of the lower rear on the street glide, and does the 12" make for any problems with ride or scraping ? love to here from ya !!!

If you ride 2 up , you may see some scraping with the lowered shocks or with your "petite"frame

Progressive also makes a 12.5" shock in the 440 series. That's what I went with.

Phil, what did you use up front? I weigh 150pounds(girlfriend is 130 pounds and i ride fully packed rarely).
Should i go with standard or heavy duty?

Up front? Nothing.... yet. Thinking of going with Progressive springs up front. Standard length. As for the springs, I originally went with the standard duty ones. They wound up being too soft so we were bottoming out a lot when 2 up. Swapped them for the heavy duty springs and they are great 2 up but a little stiff when solo... I can live with it. I'm 190 lbs. and the wife is around 160.

I use Progressive 412's standard rate. They are fine. I am 170 and wife is 140 lbs. The 440's are much more expensive but much more responsive with the "ability" to sense if the pressure is coming from beneath or above, and it has valves that adjusts accordingly. Usually they say for the heavy duty, you are looking at above 250 pounds over 50% of the riding time.

The lowering kit allows you to use a full shock (13 inch) whcih gives it a longer schock ride (versus a 12 inchor or 11.5 inch ride). Of course, the longer is better for bumps so you won't bottom out. It does change the shock angle a bit so it strains it a touch limiting its life cycle a bit, but for the most part, it should be fine.

But in either case, Progressive is the way to go. (Just my 2 cents).
