New 2" Tank Lift On My FXDC

Forum member Jackyl makes and sells them. Well under 50 bucks shipped. Good quality stuff. No mods necessary for the 2" lift. For the 3", probably have to replace the crossover hose with a longer one.

A few functional purposes (arguably) of the tank lift:
1. Easier to clean heads
2. Better airflow/cooling
3. Can run a hair closer to a completely empty fuel tank (anyone see that Seinfeld episode?)
4. Moves the blast of air a little higher on the body when cruising
5. Makes you feel like you're sitting more "in" the bike rather than "on" it

I fitted a 2 inch tank lift and didn't like the look of it so I took it off after a few weeks. I guess it looks better on some bikes than others.
I don't know if it made the engine any cooler but it definitely made it easier to clean.
Before I fitted it the gauge was showing slightly less than half full. After lifting the tank it showed quarter full. I reckon that it alters it by about a gallon.

I think a 2" lift looks great on a Dyna...really stretches out the look of the forks, especially a Wide Glide. I had to replace the short vent tube (just exiting the tank) with a little longer piece. You can mitigate the fuel gauge issue by raising the rear a little, like I did. Here's a couple of pix. Search my "Tank Lift..." thread from this last summer for more pix and explanations...
PM requested a full-on side view, after the tank lift & rearward shift. The rearward shift was so the upper tree pinch bolts wouldn't hit the tank at full R/L stops (no seat interference). I also have 11" Progressives that lowered the rear. The lift makes my stock mini-apes look too low, so I think my next mod will be 4"-6" risers.
