Default 2007 Softail Custom vs. 2007 Dyna Wide Glide

I posted this same thread in the Softail Forum, now I'd like to hear opinions from the Dyna Guys.

Can't decide between the two. Which would you choose, and why?

Thanks

I would have to go with the WG. I like the shake of the rubber mounted motor, 49mm forks (think the custom still has 41mm) and the overall look better, even though they look similar.

I do like the 200mm rear tire on the custom (think that started in 07) if not no advantage to the custom.

Thats me and I only ride solo.

If I rode 2up much I would also consider the Custom because the 06+ Dynas have quite a bit of vibration in the passenger foot pegs since they mount to the swing-arm.

I say it depends on the way you will ride. I ride a heritage now, and I will never get rid of it because doing 1000 miles in a 3 day weekend makes me happy. But I really want a Dyna for the weekends I dont go out of state. If your not gonna ride hard, a softail is fine. If you want to ride it like you stole it, you want a Dyna.

I agree with bberck. Rear pegs are mounted to the swing arm on the Wide Glide. Passengers will feel every little bump.

I had the same choice. I chose the Wide Glide due to teh fact they gave me below MSRP and a $2000 store credit.

hell id stick with the wideglide simply due to the fact that 1) it rides like a caddy straight off the floor and 2) its a DYNA! haha but seriously... those are two totally different animals. so it really depends upon your riding style and needs.

the softail custom. I much prefer the looks of the custom over the 06-08 wideglide mostly due to the rear fender they put on the wideglide those years. And the 200 tire. One thing about the softail is the forwards are a couple inches closer to the seat than the wideglide.

Well, there are more options as far as customizing, from a catalog point of view for the FXSTC. I'd say there are thousands more softails out there than WGs.

Not sure if the softail got the 96" and six speed that same year.

Not sure if the softails still utilized 41mm forks or if they upgraded to the 49mm. Again, plenty more options @ 41mm than 49mm.

I'd think that adjusting the softail shocks would be cumbersome since they're underneath and not exposed like they are on the WG.

Best suggestion, test ride both.
