TC 96 - how much hp?
ORIGINAL: stc13
my bike was dynoed showing 80 hp but big deal... who cares... I JUST want to have the abiltiy to pull away
from the ****** who tailgates me from time to time
on another note my buddy has a victory with the 100 cubic inches and he likes to rub that in
my answer to him is nobody mistakes my bike for a "metric or jap bike " [sm=icon_sneaky.gif]

I was just at a bike show today and saw some new Victorys and thought they look a lot like Honda/Suzuki.

Someone just posted the formula not to long ago. Horse power
is a result of Torque at a given RPM. I think at 3000 RPM the
96" is around 8-10 HP more.

From that all you can calculate is the hp at 3100 rpm's; which is about 54hp. Doesn't tell you what total hp is. If the torque curve is really flat, the number would be quite high. Lets say it makes 90 ft/lb @5,000 rpm; that would be 86 hp.
Knowing the total torque or hp number isn't all that helpfull. You would really want to see the torque curve. How flat is it, where's the peak, where does it drop off, what's the area under the curve, etc. That's the important stuff. Total hp numbers are on there to keep the masses happy. I would expect that to show up in magazines pretty soon.
