thank you for your service and welcome to the forum. like someone said, this website is the best book you can "buy" for your bike (other than the service manual)

SC, wouldn't go past a wide glide, IMO, about books for customisation you could pick up from a hd dealer the latest parts & accessories catalogue, heaps of good stuff in it along with the right parts for the model you end up with.

You are correct sir. Also, the Deluxe is the one with all the chrome, not the Standard. My bad.

Haha - the Custom (see below), not the Deluxe. Well the Deluxe does have chrome but it resides in the Softail family. LOL

I'm sorry....Harley's aren't something you learn about from a book. You experience them. Hop on and go.

My two cents...I own an '10 Street Bob (previously owned Crotch Rockets and last bike was metric cruiser), went into HD dealer to purchase a Fat Bob...fell in love with SB and bought it...now they have a Wide Glide that is just Phenominal...you can't go wrong in the Dyna family!
Retired AF here...thank you for what you do...be safe...come home and make a HD purchase...and be SAFE!

+1 on American Iron and the service manual. The catalog is also a nice read ;-). Thank you for your service to our country. Former Navy man myself... If you'd like me to send you a care package of a selection of motorcycle magazines, send me a PM with your address, and I'll drop some in the mail to you, man.

I like the WG and fat bob as for reading....... Just get one and start taking stuff apart it's the only way to learn a Harley.

The FXDC (Super Glide Custom) and the FXDF (Fat Bob) are the only two in the '10 line-up that have a 5 gallon tank. I say go for the Custom, but I'm a little biased.
