What ever dude.... You are the one who failed to read the part number posted in the first post. Then you go about saying how it was not worth it and you would rather mod a squirrel to record your mileage for peanuts. Evidently you do not know what you are writing about. You think I lashed out.... Time to use the tools of this forum...

Just a guess, but if the part fit pre-2009 models, why wouldn't the MoCo say so? There's a lot more pre-2009 MCs on the road than there is '09s and 10s.

Or maybe, they're just being their usual over-cautious selves figuring that the average Harley rider is more than industrious enough to figure it out on his own.

That is why I am looking for someone who might have added this to an older model or someone who works at a dealership and would be able to tell me the difference between an '09+ and an '08 and earlier.

You have a service manual? I have one for my 09 and I will be willing to compare it to yours to end the debate.

The only think I can figure is that the '09 later models already have a wire from the coil pre-installed in the wiring harness. So it's plug n' play.

That could possibly be it... I hope not. I really like that speedometer.

Yeah, the MoCo sent me a book with that in it and I noticed it right away. I don't see why a competent wiring guy couldn't make it work. Why not? Peeps are always hooking up after-market tachs.

I bet, that with a little thought (and a wiring guy) you could make it work. And make it work right.

I'm okay with certain stuff, but wiring? No way. I kinda sorta understand it if somebody explains it to me, but my eyes start to glaze over after a couple minutes of it.

I just wanted to offer some moral support.

All the way!!
