Default Windshields!

Doing some more overseas shopping. I'm looking for a good detachable windshield to mount onto my '10 Street Bob. Have been looking at the Quick-release compact and touring ones that harley offers.

My concerns are the wind buffeting, and the biggest concern being the size. I can't exactly figure out what size I'm going to going to be able to see over from where I am right now, so I was hoping for a little help. I'm about 5'10", if anyone is around there and has a solution please let me know!

I have an 09 FXDC with the Harley compact quick-release and I am 5'11". No problem looking over the top and I don't notice any wind buffeting but I guess I'm not all that sensitive to buffeting with a full face helmet. You can adjust the height of the windshield by sliding it up and down on the forks. I bought the compact but the only difference between it and the touring is the size of the shield. I can buy the touring shield as a replacement but so far I don't have a problem with the compact.

I have the quick release super sport on my wide glide, minimal buffeting, but still better riding than taking the full brunt of the wind on my torso. It adjusts up and down on the forks and when I don't want it on, it's just 4 quick clicks and the whole thing is off without any mounts left behind. Worth the money in my humble opinion.

I have the HD QR compact as well. I'm about 5'9" and can easily see over the top. On those windshields, it has been found that changing their angle reduces the buffeting that comes from the wind coming up your legs and on up in front of your face. 1/2 shell helmets are very susceptible to the buffeting while full face helmets are not.

I also have a modified touring 'fork air baffle' mounted. Between changing the angle of the windshield, getting a bigger headlight and making the tolerance around the windshield-to-headlight tighter, and the fork air baffle... my buffeting is quite tolerable. (the fork air baffle is the least effective of these by the way).

Which QR compact do you have? The tall one or the short one?

I'm 5'11" have the QD on my Wide Glide, love it, 18". Sit on your bike, measure from top of headlight to desired hight, that's what gets you in the ball park.

I'm in the same boat trying to figure out what brand/size to get. I read alot of threads about people getting an HD shield that they aren't happy with and opting for something else. Maybe someone you trust at the dealership can recommend a model/size that is popular and has less complaints. I ride 99% of the time without one, and will only be using it on maybe 2 trips a year. Kinda leaning to the Memphis Shades line, but haven't narrowed down which one. Good luck. Let us know what you decide on and how well it works.

I have the short one. At rough guess I'm looking over the top of it probably about 4-5"
