The one from Terry Components seems to have a pretty good rubber gasket to prevent water and moisture from getting in.

Interesting point about being able to crank the motor with the ignition off. Need to call them tomorrow and ask about that.

 

Put one on my FXR just before leaving for a 3500 mile tour. Had to, starter button (bad switch) quit working day before, and I wasn't about to pull apart my internally wired bars (one drawback to internal wiring). Put that starter button on, kept me going and going and going just like a bunny. Don't leave home without it.

 

Even the cheapo on I put on had a rubber o-ring to keep water out. I took an extra step and lubed it up with dielectric grease....I promise you there's always power there. It comes directly from the battery.

 

i apologize for being a little dumb, but what is the dreaded click?
Mine is clicking when i try to start it...replaced a dead battery, so i now have power, but when i hit the start, it just clicks rapidly. Can anyone say what the problem most likely is?

 

Took a while but finally got the starter button installed. For some reason the shaft on the one I tried installing was slightly to short (by about 1/8") to press the actuator in. Sent it back to Terry Components and they machined a slightly longer shaft for me. It took about 5 minutes to install, and works great. It may cost a bit more than some of the others out there, but the quality of the part is great.

Kudos to Jim at Terry for the great customer service.

 

Make sure the new battery is charged. Make sure your battery connections are tight and greased.

 

Make that tight and BRIGHT. Shine up the connectors and the battery terminals.

 

Put a discount auto brand on my ultra.. Relays kept going bad....
Push button switch, wire to battery, wire to starter ground....
Hid the switch , but easy to get to....
Liked it better that the factory switch...
