Default Gear Changes are getting clunky

Hi Everyone,

I recently traded-in my trusty Sporty for a brand-new Dyna Street Bob.
Very happy with the bike so far... except for one thing:
When I first got the Street Bob, the gear-changes were pretty smooth: much better than on the Sporty. More like a gentle "click" than the traditional "clunk".
However, as I've been riding the new bike (just hit 600km) , the gear-changes have become more and more clunky so much so that it now feels identical to the Sporty.

Anything I should be having checked out or is this normal?

I wonder too. My 2011 fat bob with 250 miles is VERY chunky, especially into 1st gear, even while stopped.

7500 on mine. Sometimes it klunks louder than other times. It's been doing it all along. Doesn't matter when the oils were changed either or how long it's been runnning or the temperature outside. It just is.

Mine clunks sporadically, sometimes it is a smooth click, and other times a good clunk, it is completely random.

On a different note, my bike shifted like crap until I got my idle adjusted properly down to 1000rpm

Mine as well, did a clutch adjustment just at first service and it made no real difference. I guess its just the way they are.....

My Superglide does same thing as yours. I think it could be how you hold the clutch. If you let go of the clutch and then put it in 1st, I get the clunk. But if I shift down through the gears while holding the clutch, when slowing down, I get the click.

For example when stopped in nuetral, shifting in 1st gets a clunk or click depending how far in the clutch is. I get the clunk only when I have the clutch lever pulled in all the way.

I get the click when I have the clutch partially disengaged past the "FRICTION ZONE" or when holding the clutch down when downshifting to a stop.

Who knows but it's random and I assume that the clunk is normal.

This fella is speakin the truth...I installed the SE compensator and I am thoroughly impressed. They should come stock with the SE compensator as far as I am concerned. I upgraded my tensioner, clutch spring, and IPB well I was in there for good measure.

Now the primary works like its supposed to, before I did all these upgrades I was set to convert to a open belt drive due to the sloppy, clunky, noisy stock junk thats sold to you from the MoCo unless you are rich and have a Screamin Eagle Super Duper Eagle Feather edition...

Hmmm... interesting advice...
Do I need to replace just the compensator (40274-08) or other bits as well?
