Default Belt Guard removal issue on my Fat Bob

Greetings:

I'm trying to take off my belt guard so that I can have it powder coated which and I thought would be a piece of cake...two bolts...done. I got the back bolt off with no problem (needed a wrench on the inside) but the front is giving me grief! It acts like it's welded in there...even broke a small extension trying to put some leverage on it, all the while being careful not to hurt/break anything else. I even put a little Liquid Wrench on it to see if it help loosen.

Any thoughts on this that might work? I'm assuming whoever put the thing on over did it...

Thanks...

Took mine off recently for same purpose, just need to get it coated now. I do remember the front bolt being a pain. There is loctite on the bolt so try some heat.. being careful of belt.

Same thing happened to me about one month ago, tried everything, finally came of by squaring off the bolt head with a dremel and using needlenose vice grips to get it out. it was a pain.

I tried heat, liquid wrench, everything. The treads had a black coating on them... some super strong threadlocker?

Couldnt get mine off either when taking rear tire off. For me I was able to lift it up and out of the way.

Hmmm.... Interesting, I've had mine off several times. I don't recall it being an issue even the first time. That's a drag. Sounds like you'll have to sacrifice the bolt.

Thanks for the replies...as for the bolt, do you think drilling it out would work? I don't mind losing the bolt, but I don't want to mess up anything else.

Mine was the same way. Thought for sure I was going to strip the hex out of it. I heated it with a micro-torch for a little over 5 seconds. Came right out. I'd venture to guess that a high wattage soldering iron would have worked too.

I actually snapped the bolt head off mine on my fat bob...had to then drill the rest of the bolt out. I had tried using a removal bit, but that snapped too.
