Default Just Need To Vent About A Dealer!!

Hello, I was out riding yesterday with my dad on my 2010 Dyna WG. I noticed my front brake master cylinder was leaking around the gasket. We stopped in Riders HD in Trussville, AL. I spoke to a service guy and he said this was a common problem. He pointed me in the direction of the parts dept. and even answered my questions about installing the cap and bleeding the brakes. I bought the resevoir cap, a bottle of DOT 4 and installed it when I got home. I read through a few threads on this forum and found this was a warranty issue. I called Riders HD and spoke with a service guy and he confirmed that this should have been covered under warranty. I told him I had already installed the cap I bought and he basically said I was out of luck and there was nothing they could do. I said too him that I wish the service guy I spoke with would have told me it was covered under warranty. My bike was there and I would have gladly waited for them to fix the problem and save myself 41.00. He said it was my responsibility to ask if a item is covered under warranty. I feel ripped off!!! I already don't really care for HD dealers but this may be the last straw!!!

That was pretty crappy service if you ask me. It's not like you walked up to the parts counter and just purchased one, you did talk to the service department. I would call the service manager and let him know how dissatisfied you are. You talked to the service department and they sent you to parts to buy a replacement. If he doesn't make good on it I would keep going up till someone makes it right. Dealer owner next and the the factory.

You blew it, it's not the dealers fault you did not ask, I would imagine you never even brought it with the guy you dealt with and he is probably use to everyone asking for warranty work so it did not occur to him. He probably figured you thought you were out of warranty, who knows.
Do you need someone to hold your hand when you ride?

wow...your a dick...

now as to the OP....I agree that was definitely a crap move, if you told the service guy it was 2010 he should have at least asked if your bike was still under warranty and same for the parts guy.

What a contradiction and yes you are a DICK.

I'll post an update as soon as I get a reply from the manager.

Well, and intelligent answer would have been that it is the Dealer's responsibility as a basic form of customer service to check into the year, and model of your bike, and any known issues that would be covered under the warranty. Not to blow it off and charge you for it. We all can't be experts and know everything, hence why we ask questions.

They should refund your money.

Curious, how do you people know what the OP actually told the dealer? I get the feeling he is leaving information out of his story, so I am not sure they even knew what bike he was buying it for, maybe he just told them what he needed without details, I tend to believe if he had simply asked if it should be covered under warranty it would have been. As for the name calling, if that makes you feel about yourself, better go right ahead.
