Default Rear Brake Failure

I have a 2011 FatBob with 6K on it and had the rear brake fail in rush hour traffic slowing from 60mph. Caliper froze and the pedal whent flat. Has this ever happend to anyone else? Took it right into the dealer. The repair should be covered under the waranty right?

i would say yes, they wont cover warn out pads but they should cover that unless determined owner abuse from overheating from riding the brake etc...

That's the first I've heard of that happening...It most certainly should be covered under warranty (unless you've done some mods or changes that affected it).

On my last bike 07 XL1200C the rear caliper bolt was slightly cross threaded and didn't allow the brake to function.
First break job to it, aluminum caliper with very fine threads.
I fixed it myself by removing the caliper bolt, apply the brake and threaded the bolt in square. Of course I originally messed it up but didn't know it.
Easy fix but even the mechanic was stumped.
I rode the bike to his garage only to have to ride it back home with no back breaks.
Freeway and all it sucks with no back breaks.

I've been riding since 1976 and have owned many different bikes and never had any problems with brake failure. But the first thing out of the service managers mouth was "it looks like you've been riding the brake" Say What?

The pivot bushing failed. Everything was covered. Even got a 20% discount on a new rear tire with only a balancing charge for labor. Count me happy with dealer service. Spitzies gets a thumbs up.

Looking at the drawing I assume that you are referring to the brake pedal shaft pivot. They can get a little rusty and start to seize. Be sure to keep it well lubricated. I upgraded my controls and have had no further issues with this. Good luck and keep a close eye on it. Remember, keep it well lubricated!

So the back brake locked up and put a flat spot on the tire? And they did not cover that??
