springs + lowering blocks
ok so heres the deal. I want to chop my rear fender on my 07 street bob. I have burly slammer shocks on it now. I hate the way a chopped fender looks unless it sits low on the tire though (i see a lot with 2+inch gaps). Thought about replacing shocks with struts, bad idea. Is anyone running burly slammer or likewise progressive rear shocks with lowering blocks? Or some other idea that will deal with the chopped fender's tire gap?
Btw, not worried about being comfortable. If i was i wouldnt have bought a street bob, got a thinner seat, or lowered it. Spare me, please.

No offense, and I am sure you have considered this, but as long as the fender is mounted to the frame and not the swing arm you will need some kind of gap to allow for the back wheel moving up and down. I've seen several fenders mounted to the swingarm that look awesome and that's what I would eventually like to do. I would feel more comfortable then putting the fender right up on the tire.
There are no shocks shorter than the burley. Theres a reason, any lower and parts collide. Lowering blocks would assure you smash stuff up before you even leave the driveway. You can put struts on but the ride is awful. Like robbie13 said, a swing arm mounted fender is the only way to get the fender closer and actually still have suspension. And honestly, they look pretty cool as well. You just loose the option of ever having a sweety on the back. Something I would never give up in the quest for style.
