I bought a brand new 10 FXD last year for $10,500. $8,200 for an 09 high miles & ragged sounds too steep. Walk away.

Dont mess with it.. not worth the trouble and it could possibly hose up your friendship..
I'd have to defer to the poll you took.. seems pretty conclusive

Never mix this kind of stuff with friends. I've made that mistake before. Needless to say, my then best friend and I don't speak anymore. Stay away from this. Doesn't sound like a good idea anyway.

Could just give him the $8200 as a loan or in purchase of shares (depending on the business organization). Of course this doesn't really help the mixing $ with friends dilemma...

Me, I would buy the bike if he needed the money more than I ever would. The money depends on just how important it is to you, essentially amount vs income.

there are plenty of bikes out there with less miles going cheaper man, i know you want to help him out ,but for example mine is an '08 FB with that mileage and i doubt i could get over 9 for it , and the paint is just cherry.

he doesnt need money for the business he is trying to rob some sucker for a bike he cant sell... dont do it. and dont think a friend will bend you over for a buck. ive been screwed a few times from close friends. this is why i would even lend my wife money let alone anyone else.
