Default Do I need Professional help?

OK. My wife thinks I'm nuts and need some help because this isn't the first time I've done this.

What she perceives as a problem with me is the need to "do sh*t" to the bike even when I'm done "doing sh*t to the bike".

I Bought my current bike in 04 and have put enough on it that it is about like I wanted it. I'm not really into dickin with the motor, so most of my stuff is Cosmetic or geared toward comfort.

Now I'm starting to take sh*t off of it because I have this uncontrollable need to keep changing things with my bikes.

I thought about buying another one so I could "do sh*t to it" but that really isn't practical for me right now (I want to stay married).

Do any of you do this or do you leave it alone once you get it where you want it?

Just curious.

Man, you must really be bored!! But to answer the question, I generally leave it alone unless something is in need of repair. At that time I may or may not find something I think I can not do without so it must go on the bike.

I understand where you're coming from, I did a big overhaul on mine last winter and guess what now i would like to redo about half of it. Common sense has taken over and I am considering selling my bike next year and buying another to start on. It is amazing that what you thought would be the most awesome theme changes after you did it.

LOL...I did the same thing on my previous bike....couldn't leave it alone. I changed out 4 different handlebars, 3 different exhaust systems, etc. to get the look/feel I wanted.

The only difference is I'm divorced (twice), so I didn't have to justify the $$$ I threw at the bike.

I swore I'd leave my new SB alone after the pipes and SE intake, but I've got another 3 boxes of "stuff" being delivered to go on the bike...it's an addiction.

Bro, maybe we can get group rates!! Tell her I bought a new 08 softail last Aug. and had it all apart in the garage within two months. Handlebars off, tank, all the foot controls, front signals, exhaust, air cleaner ...the works. I remember my wife saying "you better get that back together by spring". Plus I spent $3500.00 to boot .

Matter of fact it in pieces AGAIN. Do'n a headlight and sidemount plate. Then I'll be taking the front apart for chrome lowers. Tell her thats what we do when not riding.

What you need to do, is hit the swap meets. Get rid of ("A") stuff you won't use anymore, and accumulate other ("B") stuff (it helps to have a picture in the back of your mind). At some point, put together all of stuff "B". Another motorcycle will magically appear in the garage.

Crazy like a fox, yeah......that's what she'll say.

The doctors call it OCD. We call it passion. My advice; get another bike and enjoy both.
