2006 Dyna Low rider, One of a kind, Classic in 2025????
Was told by the dealer today that the 2006 dyna low rider was a one of a kind bike. Maybe he meant the 2006 Dyna and not just the low rider. Anyway he said the 2006 was the only one that came stock with a 6 speed and the 88 engine in it. I think that was what he said in a nut shell. I'll have to go look at what the other dyna came with but is it true? Do I/we (2206 owners) have a potentially rare and maybe even sought after classic for the eccentric Harley collector in 2025?
Okay looked at the other 2006 Dyna and they also had the twin cam 88 and 6 speed, 2007 the went to the twin cam 96 engines. Now I know what he was telling me.
That brings me to another question. Is the low rider a glide? The forum has Dyna Glide models: Is that the correct model type(s) Dyna Glide or is it just Dyna?

I believe the first year of the 6 speed came out in 06 and it was the last year of the 88 motor. The Low Rider is in the Dyna Glide family, AKA Dynas, so yes, it's a Glide in the Dyna family.
If kept in really nice shape, over enough years it will be considered a nice classic. The problem with twin cam dynas from a collector standpoint is that there is a million of em out there. But in 25 or 30 years 90% of em will be clapped out pieces of **** that nobody took care of. The ones that are in mint condition will be something to stop and look at
Fact; '06 DYNA's also have straight cut gears in th tranny.
Does that make them a rareity...only time will tell.
But, I hate to bust your bubble, the 2006 DYNA is also the year that had a big problem with the inner primary bearings. The ultimate fix...Replace the trans. case and inner primary case withe '07 parts on the 3rd replacement of the IPB on the MOCO's dime (on a case by case basis). It would be worth looking into and, try to find out the maint. history on your Lowrider, maybe this issue has already been resolved on yours. There's plenty of info here on the Forums on the IPB subject.
Sorry....Hope this helps you out.
Best wishes....Tim(HT)

Just so you know not all 06 Dynas had problems with the stator or IPB so far mine has had niether and continues to be one of the most low maintenance hassle free bikes I've owned.Literally all I do is change the fluids on time and ride it.I did have a front end clunk noise for awhile but I had the fall away adjusted under warantee and that was it.

I agree with that. They don't all have that problem but, those that do...it's a major pain in the ***. And, It has given the '06 DYNA an unerned bad rep. I enjoy mine... plan on keeping it a long time.
Just sayin'

I suppose to be worth some money you would of needed to take an 06 and bubble wrap it in storage for 25 years. Can't do that it was meant to be on the road.
Thanks for the heads up on the potential problems. Looks like I have 2 option, poke it with wrench and see if it's sick or stick my head in the sand and pretend I didn't read this. No wait, the third option......Positive thinking always is a good start for the day. I'll have to believe that if it was one of the o sixes that was going to have one of the problems it would have already done so by now. Yeah, that the ticket. My bike is gonna be one of the ones that just needs the fluids changed and the occasional chrome added to it in appreciation for it being the dependable Harley it is.
I do have the occasional clunk up front that I need to take care of though.
Do bikes have car faxes?

I wonder how many of us have had good luck with our 06 Dyna's. I know mine has low miles and I do take very good care of it. To date it has suffered none of the problems others have. Could it just be good luck or are the majority of bikes dependable? I know human nature is to complain when things go wrong and be quiet when everthing is good. Count me as one of the people who feel the 06 was a good reliable buy. (Hope I'm not jinxing myself here)
I have only made some minor changes to the bike, none of which involve the drive train. Just a custom seat, handle bars, forward controls, floor boards for the wife and a sissy bar. Did break down and put a fairing on it this year.
Mid forty MPG's with 2 up riding. Did have the injector change within 2 weeks of ownership.
I have nothing but good things to say about my bike and hope that the majority of owners feel the same way.

mine had the self destructing stator and the IPB problems. I tore it apart and replaced both with upgraded parts. A Baker IPB and an 07 Stator. No more problems and almost 20k on the replacement parts. The trick is to upgrade the garbage parts that harley put in there, not just replace them with the same junk... my 06 will be with me for a long time to come.
