Default ? about shaking at high speed

My 02 wide glide when i ride at high sped, the bike wobbles so much i have to slow down with fear of crashing. the bike wobbles like crazy. it has perfect tires and alignment done so that is not the problem. i find it hard to believe the my old sportster is a more stable ride than my wide glide. Any idea?

Have you checked the steering bearing adjustment?

What kind of set up do you have? Stock or mods?

At what speed does the bike start to shake or wobble? Do you have anything attached to your handle bars or saddle bags mounted to the bike?

02 has some age. Not sure what you call high speed. However in 02 Harley said to never exceed 90 or 80 with 2 up. Even at 80 road condition and wind can make these bikes a handful. Could be tires, wheels especially if spokes, wheel bearings, front steering head neck bearings, shocks, suspension bushing ect... . Even experience since at speed slight shift in balance of operator teeds to result in straighter line operation. If all this is fine you are just driving too fast for conditions.

Or last but not least, double check the trail.

I have had to lower the tubes in trees by a 1/4" in order to stabilize the front end in a couple of different bikes in-order for them to handle higher speeds with stability.

Oh, as a misnomer, there is no such thing as a perfect tire. They all go goofy at high speeds, it is the dynamic force of rotation that throws them out. Cords stretch and distort because of centrifugal inertia. High speed strobe balancing should be done on the complete assembly (on the bike) in-order to correct that. Other wise things are just only in acceptable high-low tolerances.

As asked, what do you consider high speed?
Spokes, bearings, lot's of thing can cause a little wobble, even death grip on the bars.
Has it always done this or is it relatively new?
If new, what changed to make it start?

A fork brace may help stiffen the front the front forks

I have cured a lot of bikes of this issue by taking the balance weights off the front wheel...
