Arrow oil filter for 96 inch dyna

I have the 1584 cc twin cam motor on my 2008 fatbob. It says use a special oil filter for it.......I have a one but it has smaller inlet holes than the original, Will it do a lot of damage ? I'm kinda stuck, cuz I thought it was the correct one, it has AA Stamped on the inside screw in side.......no other numbers or letters. It will thread no problem, just lacking in the filter material is all........Can I use it? or shlt can it and get the right one...........I know I know dumb question........when It comes too the bike get the right part and don't jerk around. Guess what I'm asking is has any one used a different filter than specified. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean it says "use a special oil filter" ? Do you mean the 5 micron one ? Where did you get the one you have now, the dealership or aftermarket ?

On my first HD, an 80" EVO, I sometimes used a Fram when it was on sale, but overall I stuck with a genuine MoCo oil filter. Must be good stuff, 'cuz that motor ran for 20 yrs and 96K miles without needing a teardown. With the FB I currently ride, I'm using only the MoCo filter based on my previous experience.

If you can't identify the mfr of the filter you're asking about (HD stamps a little logo on the mounting plate of theirs) I would suggest saving it for the lawn mower and getting a filter of known quality and reputation - this is a critical area where you really don't want to scrimp or take chances.

I would think the filter is the same as every other big twin filter out there. They're all made in china anyway, so quality is a crap shoot.

When I took off the oem filter, it had obvious element in view of the inlet holes, unlike the one I had......I found a supplier close by and scored a quality replacement.
The twin cam 96's require a ''premium ''oil filter.....(it has a , aw ***, I forgot thre term!)

It calls for a oil filter per the owners manual.........I'm all set I found one, The one in question would of worked for a while, but I wouldn't run it very long with an inferior filter. Here are the part numbers..chrome-63798-99A, and black-63731-99A.
Thanks for the replys

Hey, I like that!! I just change my oil two days ago. That filter would have come in handy. I'll order one for next time.

Default Oil Filters

Anybody who spends 15 grand on a bike and puts a cheap a$$ filter on it, doesn't have all the fries in their happy meal. The Harley filter is a 5 micron filter...if you can get another 5 micron filter cheap then go for it.
