Installed my fuel moto stage 1 kit, the round air cleaner, purchased harley cover part number 27956-10, and the button head screws wont catch the star shaped bracket. 09 fxdc. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

 

you may need to bend out the star pieces a tad till the screws catch

 

...or get longer button head screws.

 

you just have to bend the ends of the star. once you start the screws they will go right in. just bend them out some. i had to do the same thing

 

thanks guys, I'll try bending the bracket a little first. If that doesn't work, I'll try to find some longer screws. Can I find chrome screws at the hardware store or the dealership?

 

you can find chrome button head screws at a hardware store. i found then at my local hardware store, dont know about hd or lowes.

 

what do you think, half inch screws?

 

Bending the tabs did not work for me, the screws would not line up. My round K&N came with a foam gasket and I was not able to push on the filter hard enough and screw in the screws by myself. I asked a friend to help push on the cover while I screwed it down and it was easy. If that does not work Tru-Value hardware store have an excellent stock of chrome scews, half inch may be to long, 3/8 may be a better choice.

 

Did you install the washer that comes with it? Very important or it won't fit.

 

There was no washer in the kit. Would this washer go on before the big bolt to mount the star bracket?
