Haha I was thinking the same thing. You were T-boned at 50mph and you're complaining about a $250 deductible and you're taking HIM to dinner?! Be lucky you're alive or didn't lose your leg....

But seriously...not trying to be a dick, but you're typing is pretty scattered and formatted really oddly. Probably best to get checked out...

The story is all over the place so I'm unsure if you ran the red light or if he did, the more times I read it the more confused I get. If he hit you then your deductible doesn't matter. His insurance should be buying you a new FLD. If you hit him, $250 is still a low deductible. If it's totaled, you'll be getting a $15,000 bike for $250.

+1, His story sounds straight forward to me. He didn't see the red light because it was blocked by a truck and he was focused on the next green light ahead. Car hit him - his fault.

Whar can I say, You're alive and can build another. practice makes perfect

mrnone always writes like this. Some of my favorite posts. He could still have a concussion, but it isn't affecting his posts.

If you haven't already, get checked by a doctor. Injuries from this kind of event can be sneaky and show up later - weeks or months sometimes. If you don't at least get checked out soon even if you feel fine now insurance can deny any treatment or physical therapy you may need later.

As for the bike? Get another. Frame bent is a closed deal for me. If I'm going to fix a frame it's going to be something vintage I have to restore, etc...not something rolling off a factory floor every few minutes that insurance will cover. Why be down for months getting it fixed when you could be getting on with your life? Some people seem to come out ahead with money buying back their wreck, but I think that is when they are totaled without frame damage. Either way you would be fixing it for a long time and I don't remember you as mr. patience. Also there is no garauntee it will ride the same, etc. Maybe you can salvage your added parts off this one since insurance rarely covers those anyway.

Sounds like you liked the bike you had and there is more of them out there to buy...or have fun test driving something else. I'd say you've got way more than 250,000 miles left in you so heal up and get yourself a new ride.

Glad your alive.

edit. just realized you were talking about salvaging the porsche. lol. want to see that fxr.

My friend bought his bmw GS back from salvage for the cost of the sales tax , restored it
sold it for almost new- mileage and made a huge profit on it. Nothing wrong with that reasoning, or mrnone could fix it up as a project and have an extra ride in the stable for visitors!...... or days he ain't paying attention!
You should get checked , and you were extremely lucky (i know you know that) but I see nothing wrong with your logic.

Don't go beating yourself up Tim .... it's called an accident and the majority of us have either had or will have a lapse in concentration some time. As long as you are ok mate.
