These "bandaid" tuners don't provide any flexability, if you make multiple engine modifications. Just swapping one thing (i.e. exhaust only or a/c only) then they'll make motor run fairly good, but if you're planning multi-mods (i.e. exhaust + air + cams + jugs/bore, etc...) then it's best to invest into true tuner.

Look,it's just this simple, they enrichen the A/F ratio at idle and part throttle to 13.7 which provides a bit more fuel to help the engine run cooler. You will notice a 1-2 mpg loss which proves they are working. They are plug&play so installation is easy. I've had mine for three years and when I changed plugs last year the color was perfect,a very light tan vs bone white without the xied's. With the addition of SE slipons(packing removed),K&N stock replacement air filter and xied's my bike runs perfect. It has more power, runs cooler, sounds better and there's none of that annoying popping and backfiring that so many have problems with.

Im thinking of getting the XEIDS also.. Since i have decided to go with the Rush slip ons and maybe a heavy breather i think they should work. I guess i do have a couple concerns tho.. Every time i take my bike to the dealer for inspections and work are they ok to stay on? Or are they going to throw codes or they see them and Void the warranty? I dont want something that im going to have to take off and on all the time! Also do they still work with aftermarket full exhaust and heavy breather?

Have them on my '06 LR with Rush 2.0 and Zippers MaxFlo A/C. Bike runs great, no problem with dealer on service or even inspections as I never take them off. With the '06 XIEDs I have the issue where my CE light comes on after idling for about 30 seconds, it then goes off after about the same amount of riding. Still no issues with state inspections. So if you are like me and not planning on any upgrades beyond pipes and A/C, the XIED is the way to go in my book.

Of course they will still work but if you're planning on full exhaust and further mods in the future get a tuner. I'm not,my bike runs great as is and that's as far as I'm going with it. Depends on your dealer, some of them resent you doing anything to the bike unless they have $old it to you.

Ya thats the thing! First time buying a bike from this dealer so i dont know how finiky they are about aftermarket items that they dont sell or ever even heard of. I know they push the s.e.r.t big time! Right now i would just like to get good sound out of my exhaust and i love the look of the rush on the Fatboy Lo cause it totally blacks out the exhaust. So i dont see any need for there $450 s.e.r.t tune!

My bike (2010 FXDC) ran fine with the XIEDs when it was stock. Once I added Rush Slip ons, it had a nasty decel pop. So I added a BS intake and a Dobeck TFI injector tuner to get rid of the popping. I wouldn't buy the XIED's before you get your pipes. If you don't experience any decel popping after installing the pipes, the XIED's would help cool your motor some and make it more responsive. If you do have popping, then you are taking a chance on the XIEDs being able to get your AF ratio rich enough to get rid of it. Just thought I'd offer some food for thought.

Something I've noticed reading this forum is that quite a few people have a decel pop problem even with a tuner! I've never had the problem.
