Default Apes

How goes if folks?
I have an '09 FXDC. I love the look of the apes. Honestly, the higher the better they look but I know I won't like them too high. I have a buddy who just picked up an '08 Street Bob. I like his apes as they are very comfortable but want to go just a bit higher. I'm wondering first, what height his are. Are those 10" bars that come stock with the SB? If so, I'm thinking 12" bars would be good for me.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Ray

I've got 14" bars on mine also. I'm 5'10 and they are the perfect height for me.

I am 5'9" and have forward controls. I have the Harley Apes that come with the 4" risers and they are very comfortable.

5' 7"
Forward Controls with Stirrups for my short legs.
15.5" bars with 3.5" risers. Since the bars angle back down towards the tank about 3.5" they work fine for me.

Stock Street Bob bars are 10.25". I have a set of Wild One Chubby apes that are 12.5" tall. They are comfortable, and place my hands just higher than my shoulders when using my BareBones seat. With a Sundowner, my hands are just below my shoulders. I rode from KC to Vegas and back and had no problems with hand numbness or any other issues with the bars. I did settle my engine in the mounts before I left, and that seemed to reduce the vibrations a lot. I'm 6ft tall, if that helps. And yes, you will have to swap cables to do it properly. Stock ones will fit with my bars, but are really stretched to the max, especially the brake line. Jireh has great deals on Motion Pro cables and Russell brake lines.
