Hey Ray - I am in the same boat....I love the look of the apes but realized it would be foolish to go buy without sitting on a bike and getting the feel. I am 6' tall and ride a 2004 superglide....leaning toward 14''. I was just pricing on J & P and was eye balling the following:
Burely 14" black - narrow part # 501-769 ($122) - regular part # 502-060 ($182)
Burely Cable/Brake Kit - part # 512-417 ($199)
Just throwing in the part number on J & P cycle site will save you some time. Like I said, I am going to try to sit on a few bikes to get the feel of the height before spending my hard earned cashola. The people on here may have much less expensive options as well??????????????????
Im 6' and have the HD 16" ape and riser set up,forward controls and mustang seat w/backrest on my 2012 Street Bob.Love this bike. Also had 16" WO's on my '06 RKC.Very comfortable and look great.
When buying apes, end rise is where its at......the bars may be 16 tall at the bend and then end up only being 14 at the ends, which is why you see tall apes pushed forward past vertical......the Santee 14 inch 1 1/4 bars are fairly straight and line the center area lines up perfectly with the mid glide trees.....Drag Specialties stocks them.....I have em on my bike.....the most comfortable bars Ive ever had on......just my
Thanks folks for all the input. I'm starting to look at the 1 1/4" Santee 14" bars. I'm a bit concerned with the width at the bottom of the bar though. It looks like it might be a bit too wide...
