2007 FXDC and brakes (Lyndall)
I would like to get better braking power and am thinking of changing my HD pads to Lyndalls. From their site, it indicates that for 2000-2007 FXDCs, the front and rear brake pads are the same while starting with 2008, they are different. I have a 2007 FXDC but had not heard the 2008s changed their brakes.
2000-2007 Stock number 44082-00B
2008 44082-08/42298-08
Can anyone confirm the stock part numbers for those years are correct?
Also, has anyone installed their lug drive rotors? How is the feel to them, are they too easy to lock up the wheels?
Thanks,
Don

I have the Lyndall Lug Drive rotors on my Dyna (2002 FXDXT) and love them. It is very easy to lock the wheel up, however there is another contributing factor to the equation. First off my Dyna has dual disc on the front. Second, I have put the Brembo calipers off of a bagger on the front wheel.
The calipers were put on with stock Harley pads a few weeks before I got the Lyndall Lug Drive rotors along with steel braided lines and made a considerable difference in my stopping power. Once I added the lug drive rotors to the equation the stopping power was incredible. Smooth, quiet, and effective. I am able to lock up the brakes very easily should I choose to do. A few days after I added the rotors I was riding home and locked up the front with the tire on a patch of slippery oil. It scared me although I recovered and was able to continue on. It let me know that the stopping power of my Dyna is on par with what I think it should be as I want to be able to stop should someone cut in front of me on the road.
The rotors weight about 1/3 of a stock rotor. they have a lifetime warranty. The only caveat is that they must be used with Lyndall gold pads for the first set of pads. Once the gold pads are done in my bike (Lyndall pads last forever) I will switch to the Z Plus. The Lyndall pads are "dustless" which I find to be a bit of a misleading term. There is still dust that comes from the pads but the amount of dust is much less than any other pad I have used.
I wrote a quick synopsis of the lug drive rotors.
