Front end fitment
Any insight will assist me in moving this project along.
thanks
The primary means of dampening in the forks is what is referred to as 'open bath' ... as the forks collapse under enough force to compress the springs, the tubes displace fluid in the bottom of the forks ... there are tubes with a flanged top (damper rods) that seal against the inner face of the fork tubes ... the damper rods have holes through which the fluid flows up into the fork tubes ... since the fork tubes are sealed, the additional flow of fork oil compresses the air ...
There are a couple of improvements: Ricor Intiminators and Race Tech Gold valve ... these rest atop of the damper rods and meter the fluid as it passes back and forth between the lower and upper part of the fork tubes ... there is a slight variation in the mechanisms ... as I understand, the Intiminators have an inertia operated valve mechanism ... whereas the Gold Valve are spring actuated (and adjustable to match conditions and rider) ...
However, the short answer is no ... the springs and damper rods must be the proper size to work as designed ...
