Tmax and TW-555 don't get along
I had the TW-555 installed just before the winter, I had PCV at that time, the bike didn't run right at high rpm. I didn't bother fixing it coz it was the end of the riding season. Got a Tmax just before Christmas, installed it and did the pre running procedure, the bike idle fine and everything so I put it in storage.
Weather is good today so I decide to take it out for a spin, it runs ok but still sputtering at 4,000 rpm. It feels almost like fuel cutoff or not getting enough gas. I have talked to Fuelmoto and Tmax, they both recommend starting with 841 base map. I don't think it runs right, does anyone have TW-555 cams on a 96 engine and Tmax? Any idea? Thanks

Call Bob!
Have you tried calling and talking with Bob ? At Woods, he's the one I talk with about upgrading my 96" and has come up with some great suggestions and he knows what will and what won't work for sure.
He talked me out of going with the 777's and with the 555's after I get these S.E. Pro CNC heads with valves and I'm getting his belt drive for the front side timing chain replacement and keeping the back side chain drive cams. There is supposedly up to + or - 4% change at any time in the timing with the chain drive front side on the timing. With the belt drive, it's 0% right on all the time supposedly.
Hope it helps but I'd give him a call and get his ideas, couldn't hurt and he's glad to talk to anyone that I have known or suggested, heard nothing bad yet and they know their stuff!

yea , i agree w/ OLD MIKE , if its running bad before ,and now still running bad , there are other issue's ...check the fuel filter ...in the tank ....w/ the fuel pump ...everyone knows these need changing about every 20,000 miles or so, may have got bad fuel somewhere ..iam running the T/M and the Woods 555 in my wifes 07' deluxe ,,,w/ the 96, and now w/ the 103 " upgrade ...loaded base map, but the timing was why out for down here (sea level) ...runs very strong and making 97 hp ...had to make alot of A/F ratio adjustments also . actually running a timing map from one of the 120" S/E base maps that bring all the timing in about 3000 rpm and down to 29 degree's ...the 32 that the base map had was why too much ...bike felt like it was running into a hard head wind ...would not pull on top .

Here is the story. I have the tw-555 cams installed 3 months ago it ran good with PCV. After a few weeks my oil pump went, major bottom end damage, dealer replaced the short block under warranty, at the same time I had removed the wood cams so didn't void the warranty. Got the bike back in November, removed the PCV and installed the tmax and it ran fine, no problem pass 4000rpm. Then I put back the wood cam in december, load the map and ran it idle only, weather was too cold, didn't have a chance to ride it till last weekend.
I did check the compression last night, front cyl 150 rear cyl 155psi, I assume the cams are aligned properly.
I have already sent request to tech support, they said the tmax was trying to remove fuel at high rpm, they recommend me to set the autotune map offset to zero just to try, if this fixes the problem, it could be the autotuning module. I have to wait till next warm day to ride, it only does it pass 4000rpm, can't do nothing now.
FYI I have talked to many ppl who has a stock TC96 w/555 cams running 841 map, no problem whatsoever.
