Progressive suspension lowering kit question
Hey Guys,
I just got my bike back from my local indie. Amongst other things, I asked him to install a progressive suspension kit for my bike (a 09 FXDF)
When I got it back, he gave me the box of the suspension with the OE springs in it. I didn't pay too much attention at the time, but when I got home I checked out the box and found that he didn't install the regular kit, but the lowering kit.
Now due to terrible snowand bad weather, I am unable to ride my bike and test this suspension.
What I would like to knowis this: is there a noticeable difference between the regular kit and the lowering kit? and how much worst - better is the lowering kit to the OEsprings?
I know I should just take my bike back to my indie and tell him, but the guy has just been diagnosed with cancer and I don't wanna bother him if this spring kit is acceptable.
PS: he mounted all the bushings with the kit so my bike doesn't actually sit lower the before.

Not sure what the heck you got? What is the regular kit and lowering kit?
Do you mean heavy duty or standard springs? Did you get 11" 412 rear progressive shocks or front fork springs?
"he mounted all the bushings with the kit so my bike doesn't actually sit lower the before."..... if you got a lowering kit how is that possible.
From what I have read 412's are a factory replacement shock. No advantage to them besides if you get a taller or shorter spring to raise or lower your bike. I installed 412 11" standard duty on my buddies '09 street bob and it's definitly stiffer ride and you cant lean as much as you could with your factory 12" shocks due to the lower clearence.
You have to provide us with more info on the exact product you got if above doesn't answer your question.

Should have been clearer, I'm talking about the front fork suspension. The Progressive suspension lowering kit comes with bushings (I presume) and if you mount all the bushings, the the hight doesn't change, you can leave out bushings to lower the bike up to 2".
However Progressive suspension also makes a standard kit that does replace the OE springs with theirs but doesn't have bushings fitted for possible lowering.

He bought the 10-2002 and should have bought the 11-1525.
Hope this makes more sense.
Does anybody have the 10-2002 installed? how does it ride compaired to the stock springs and or the regular progressive kit?

I put the Progressive Lower Spring kit in my 09 FXDC. I cut the PVC spacer from its full length to Lower 1 inch. If your Indy did not cut the Spacer and installed the full length then your Scoot has the Aftermarket Progressive Springs without Lowering.
I did the 1 inch lower back when I thought my wife was going to be riding my FXDC....She used to ride any and every Bike but now she just prefers to ride two up with me....Oh well, however, I have never felt the need to go back to the OEM HD Front Springs. The Progressive Springs are quite nice and work just fine even with two up and loaded riding. I have Progressive 12" 440's in the rear. My Scoot rides level and very comfortable to me.
JUST RIDE

I put the 11-1525 springs in up front and there is a big difference over the stock springs. I put those in to work with the Progressive 412's on the back. They complement each other quite well. For what it's worth I also use Bel-Ray 10wt fork oil.
sounds like the spring kit you wanted was pn: 11-1525.
typically you want 1/3rd of the travel for sag. (ie: 3" of travel set for 1" of sag) with the lowering kit your probably sacrificing travel regardless of how long of spacers (bushings)

Yea thats what I thought. Since there are 2" spacers in there, I have 2" less travel on the spring itself. But if even with this reduced travel over stock, the springs are still notacibly better then the OE and only slightly worse then the standard progressive springs, I'm just going to let them sit. Like I said I don't want to realy bother him when it's no big deal.
Thanks all for the input sofar.
Just looking for a couple more people who ride with the 10-2002 kit to confirm how good or bad they are. Come on guys you are out there!
