Default Evo power upgrade Question

After being without A bike for many years I got A 97 Low Rider. At first I was sure it was fast enough for this old man. After several hundred miles my confidence has returned as well as my old ways of thinking.
I'm thinking A cam and carb and??? What would be the best way to spend around $1000. to pep this bike up? It has 15000 miles on it.
I will do most if not all the work myself.
Any Ideas?

It curantly has Screaming Eagle exaust. I think it is stock otherwise.

get some real exhaust on it. preferably 2-1. if it doesnt already have one, and you will need it, a stage 1 air cleaner. for a carb, im a fan of mikuni. put one on my old ironhead and it loved it once i jetted down.

Had an 92 evo put on the screaming eagle heads 10.5 to 1 pistons and screaming eagle cam, coil and module and really woke that evo up.You might be alittle over 1000 on the parts but if you do it yourself it will be well worth it.I now have a 2009 fatbob and every now again i find my self missing that old evo,.Do those mods and you wont be dissapointed!!!

S&S Super E Carb! Super adjustable and you can change main jets without removing anything from the carb! I had one on my 93 evo and it was day and night difference! It has adjustments for idle speed, accelerator pump volume to name a few! If I owned your bike, it would be the ONLY choice! Sides...the AC cover is a timeless classic! My 2 cents!

Default Dust

Cam Woods 6 or Andrews (EV46/51) , Carb MIKUNI 42, heads ported/flowed and (then an exhaust).
90+ horsepower from these mods alone.
