ill post pics as soon as possible. I have to finish putting the transmission/clutch/inner outer primary yada yada yada back together.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i also believe the shovelheads needed the pushrods adjusted every oil change or so... might wanna check into that

That is a classic. My old business partner bought one new in 80. It is also the first year of the 80" motor. I rode it many times and loved it. He never had and problems with it that were not common to the shovel. They are very primitive compared to the motors today. You will leak oil, LOL. I do remember the primary chains being very noisy and we would change them out to Belts, but you should leave yours alone.

thanks so much for the information guys. I cant wait to get it back together.

Another question: on the inner primary cover. The two bolts that hold the cover on that have the holes drilled through them for the safety wire. One of them had to be replaced with a slightly LONGER bolt. If I apply Loctite to the threads, can I skip the safety wire part???

thanks. My dad meant the world to me. when he passed, it caught us all off guard. 59 years old. this bike was basically his favorite child. LOL.
