2012 Street Bob Tail Light Relocation
Good Evening All,
I have a 2008 Street Bob and swapped my rear fender for a 2012. I wanted to go with that chopped/bobber look. My plans where to relocate the taillight and license plate to the side mount style. To my surprise I took the stupid sausage tail light off and have a big hole in the fender. Anyone had this mod done and fixed this hole? Any covers, plugs, etc... To cover that?
I'm trying to avoid getting the hole welded and have some body work and paint. I wouldn't mind going with another tail light fixture that doesn't look like a donkeys *#$k. I can't seem to find an alternative taillight that will fit. Any suggestions?
Thanks

A gas tank badge from a Fat Bob (HD shield design) is just big enough to cover the hole, and has exactly the right curvature molded in from the factory to fit the curved SB rear fender perfectly. Peel & stick. Done. My local dealer had the badge on his clearance table for $15, so I took a chance.
I removed the ugly SB tail light too, and that's how I solved the resulting hole on my 2010 Street Bob.
Welding in a steel patch, and then repainting the fender *is* cleaner, but for me, the added trouble and expense wasn't worh it.
