Default What are ricor intimidators

Did a search on them, but where do they do in the front forks? What do they do to make the ride better?

Is this something you can put in the stock tubes with stock springs and improve the ride?
Do they make the bike ride smoother or stiffer ride?

Thanks

There is thread on using them with traxxion. But I didn't read what or how they work.
Trying to understand how they work-ride vs changing to a progressive springs.

They are worth every penny. They make the front end handle great.
They sit on top of the stock dampner valves on the bottom of your forks.
You can use stock springs with them or you can spend a bit more and put in some better ones.
You'll need to buy some 10 wt amsoil to replace the stock oil.
I and plenty others who have them recomend them.
I did it the easy way by just sucking out the stock oil instead of tearing it all apart.
My bike only had 500 miles when I did it.
At 18Kmiles I did the complete tear down and I really didn't have to cause the amsoil was clean, very clean after three years.

They work and probably the best bang for the buck you can do to your front end...much better then a progressive spring. (the stock spring is already a progressive type) You know the uneasyness you get when you go over scraped roads, railroad tracks, turtles and tar snakes? They are gone with the intimidators. They really don't make the ride softer or harder, just more compliant.
They are a drop in disc that go under your fork springs. Read the threads about them here.

The intiminators are small devices that you place in your front forks under the springs that modify the shock dampening characteristics of the forks.

The stock dampening is based on relative motion between upper and lower shock tubes with no regard as to which side of the shock is moving relative to gravity.

The Ricors have a small wieght as part of thier valving. The inertia of the small wieght can vary the shock valving in an attempt to minimize the amount of movement of the upper shock tube. This results in less dive under braking and better compression and rebound over bumps. They are easy to install.

The best settup seems to be using these with aftermarket contant rate springs but I can say with out reservation that they also work pretty darn good with my stock progressive rate springs.

Im thinking about ordering a set for my wide glide. To install do I have to remove the spring drop the intiminators in and replace the spring. I just tore my forks apart and replaced the fork oil with amsoil 10 weight. Right now I have the progressive springs installed. These springs improved the ride a little but not as mush as expected

Thanks yall

If you just changed your oil you should be ok. You may have to remove some oil, due to the space the intiminators take up and if you make your own spacers out of schedule 40 - 1 1/4" plastic pipe. Easier than cutting your metal spacers. I also added RSD preload adjusters so that I did not have to keep pulling everything apart to cut spacers more to get proper sag.

I highly recommend reading the traxion springs with ricor intiminators thread. It will help figure out the majority of the upgrade.

I did a little research and its is pretty straight forward on install. so when mine get here im gonna drop them in and not change anything else and see how it feels and adjust from there.
The RSD preload adjusters look like a awesome idea but they will have to waite for a while. Will be next on list tho
