Default recommend a windshield please

2000 wide glide, 10" mini apes, forward controls extended an another 2 inches. i'am about 6'3"- 240 and the wind about drags me off the bike at speeds over 40/45 mph. no fun riding when all you do is fight to stay on. i need a windshield and have no idea what to get that'll work the first time. any suggestions? tks,

Go with one of the HD quick Detachable Windshield. There not cheap but well worth the money. I love riding behind my windshield but will take it off to ride around town where the speed limit is 35 mph.

I have a HD quick disconnect I bought from a forum member. It was originally a compact with 14" plastic. I replaced that with 21" piece from Rifle. I love the way bike rides now.

Look at the National Cycle windscreens. They're inexpensive, durable, and work great!

Glad you asked because I just got a 2002 WG setup the same. I feel like I'm fighting to stay on also. Actually isn't real bad as long as winds are calm but wind from speed combined with windy weather makes it a fight. I like to cruise around 50mph as I'm in no hurry to get anywhere on a bike but when I got on highway a few mins I felt like a big parachute.

Had same problem years ago when I had 16 apes on my sportster. I refused to use a windshield because it looked cheesy running a windshield with apes. This time around I could care less what it looks like lol. Doesn't look to bad with mini apes anyhow just cheesy with 16's.

Edit: I did end up buying a HD quick connect shield at st Louis Harley Davidson. Rode a sportster to the Ozarks from Kentucky with no windshield and my face was fried red with wind burn. Looks anzactly like the pic above with dudes hd detachable windshield. Worked real well for me. Once I got back to Kentucky I never used it again.
