Default Let's Talk Windshields Already.

I shold have started this threab before I bought 3 windshields but her4e we go,

I have a tach with this bracket mounted on my 2003 wide glide,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/86-HARLEY-HD...06de2c&vxp=mtr

the darn thing is if you read the package/ description for this bracket is says "will not fit with Windshields"... well that is not true,

My bike came with this mounting kit installed

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...-20-5835096--1

I took close looks at online pictures of shield that fit this kit and determined that they would indeed work with the tach bracket,

I've bought 2 used shields off Ebay.. this being one, and the other ones with braces that HD doesn;t make anymore,

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...-20-5796597--1

the super sport flexes too much, I didn't really care for that, but you do somewhat get used to it, the other one I just don't care for the condition of it although it is a sturdy shield, I may try polishing it some more, it was cleaned with anomina so it has that haze.. can that be polished out?

By the way, do not buy used windshields off ebay, most people lie about the condition of them and even more people don't know how to properly clean a lexan windshield., the 2 shields I bought are not in the condition I would prefer. yes they are useable, but they have noticeable wear.

ANyway, JP cycles happened to have some Kuryakan shield for 67% off so I order one, it's a huge shield, it's 23" wide x 27" tall. and I got It and It does appear it will work with the tack bracket... but it is a Smoked shield so I'm hoping it wont be too hard to see though, would have preferred a clear one, but didn't want to pay the extra money. I will mount this one his weekend so not sure yet if I will like it.

but here is my question,,, the windshield I really wanted was either a new Harley Quick Detach or a Memphis shades Slim.. But these are both over $400 and I did not want to take the chance of them not working with the Tach Bracket. Doesn't anyone know, will these shield work with my tach bracket?

I've got a real boondoggle here,,

thanks

saw some better pics of the Harley quick disconnect shields, and it appears they would work fine with a bar mounted tach as well, I don't understand why that stupid box said it wouldn't fit.. Now I realize I should just bought the sield I wanted to begin with,,

I have a tach with a similar mount, and a Memphis Shades Rio Grande shield on my 03 WG.. There is a good 5 inches between the tach and shield on mine. Fitment is no problem at all.

thanks,, I guess we all learn lessons the hard way sometimes. I really wanted the Memphis shades, they have the best choice of sizes, colors, and you can always get a replacement.. but shortage of funds, the hope of saving money and that stupid Part description all threw me off.

I've got a Memphis shades slim on my bike and while I dont have a handlebar mounted tach it would certainly clear one.
