Default Forwards to mids

I have a 2006 wide glide with 12" apes and forward controls, which is very uncomfortable to say the least. I would love to change the forward for mid controls. I cant find any instructions in my manual for whats needed and how to set it up. any help would be appreciated here.

thanks guys

JD

also is anyone looking the do the opposite and want to trade? Mine are in great shape yours will need to be as well......

thanks again

I looked into this while looking at new H-D's to add to my XL1200C. Parts are pricey as you will need a new primary cover and all related parts. I asked about switching over a Fat Bob over before delivery as the 2014's don't offer mids as an option like the older models.

I was going to change from forward to mids on ,my 00 wide glide. parts were priced at $272.00 cash n carry. installed by HD was priced at $385.00. I opted to just keep my forward controls and just today installed a kit to move them 2" further forward.

Youll need both the inner and outer primary covers from a bike with mids(which i have and would trade you) and some mid control take offs like these i saw on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/261481987080...84.m1423.l2649. not a hard conversion to do

Default forwards to mids

Sir not sure you will need everything mentioned in other posts.
Depends on the install of the forwards you have on your bike now.
Some people remove the shaft that sticks out of primary and replace inner and outer primary.some just put a cap over the shaft that sticks out.
that's what I did as my bikes not a show bike gets ridden and if I want to go back to mids I can. Sorry for being long winded.Hopes this helps and didn't confuse you.............ride long and safe

Why not just install mid mount pegs so your feet have a place to rest that is more comfortable. I installed mid mounts and used universal 12" footboards in lieu of pegs. I even removed the pegs from my forward controls.
