Default Starter button issues

I just bought an 03 wide glide, the previous owner put a starter switch down by the primary and disabled the thumb switch... I bought it from a pawn shop so I have no way of contacting the previous owner to find out what's been done to it, I would like to have the thumb switch work and have looked for the wiring for it but don't know what I'm looking for.... Or where to look... I'd appreciate any help to get this thing working again... Thanks in advance

First you need to see if all the wiring and components are still there to bring the starting circuit back to original, easy enough to restore this setup even if parts are missing.

So, to start out...

There is a small electrical connector on the starter solenoid, and there should be a green wire connected there.

That wire will lead back to the start relay, let us know what you find.

The pages are from a 2004 touring manual, don't know if they would be the same as your bike but you get the idea. This link will let you look at the parts and see how the switches on the bars are laid out and the wiring harness.
